RODGERS HAS MY SYMPATHY & SUPPORT

Brendan Rodgers, left to rue a defeat to Arsenal
After the debacle of the last day of the Transfer-Window in which Liverpool failed to sign a couple of strikers, then the subsequent defeat at home to Arsenal, who did sign two goalscorers in Podolski and Giroud.

I have every sympathy for new Liverpool Manager, Brendan Rodgers.

He is now working with one hand tied behind his back, with the loss of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi, Craig Bellamy and Andy Carroll.

Liverpool are left with Luis Suarez who was very wasteful with the ball against Arsenal and Fabio Borini who needs to get up to speed with the demands of the Premier League very quickly.

Liverpool were directionless and wayward in possession against Arsenal. They seemed to be subdued by the failure of LFC to buy at least one new striker.

Passing was ok, except for the final third, where nothing seemed to stick.

Suarez and strangely, Steven Gerrard failed to hang on to the ball too often.

Arsenal were defensively very solid thanks to the introduction of Steve Bould as backs Coach this Season.

Mistakes were made in midfield for the first goal from Podolski and the second by Carzola was a low-hit pile-driver which gave Reina little chance.

So, we move on.Liverpool can still sign free-agents up until the 5th of September, so I expect Brendan Rodgers to bid for former double-red Michael Owen, Didier Drogba, who won't want to join us.

But Nicolas Anelka might be worth chasing as he felt he left Liverpool too soon under Gerard Houllier way back.

Onwards and upwards Liverpool and you have my support in what you are trying to do Brendan Rodgers.

  1. Totally agree with you. Never thought I say this, but Gerrard was shitty against Arsenal. All credit to Arsene Wenger who deployed Abu Diaby as a defensive midfielder. He bossed the midfield and made the difference. I just hope that Ian Ayre won't screw up with the free agents just as he did on deadline day.

  2. we're already in a situation where by we won't be challenging for top 4. Rather than get free agents, just keep utilizing the youth players. There won't be another opportunity like this again. I know there is no such thing as too good to go down, but with the senior players we have we should be able to just beat relegation. Let the youth players show us what they can do. Come January get Carroll back, no need to spend. At the state we are in, we won't be able to attract top talents, so no point spending huge amount of money for average players. BR should be less stubborn with his tactics. Before teams come they already know what kind of style we will play, since tiki taka is all he is known for.

  3. True Unknown, give young Morgan a chance upfront and see how he does.
Ngoo is too light but Conor Coady is worth a pick in the Europa League & the Cups.
Arsenal sussed us out by playing on the counter-attack and defending deep, we need more variety in our play.

  4. forget the past and move forward...we have a lot good youg talent. Suso, Pacheco and Morgan to name a few. Play them. they can't o much worse. Suso should be better than downing. Let's give borini somebody to compete with Morgan & Pacheco. So far borini hasn't done much.

  5. BR has certainly been shafted by FSG, having saved over £20m this summer. He expected and was assured of signing strikers to bulk up the squad, where are they???. FSG have a lot to answer for, where is the clarity from FSG???.............remember H+G anyone!!!

  6. Shafted by fsg is putting it lightly, makes one wonder the true nature of the owners intentions are, B.R left out to dry by the owners(not the 1st time they've done this to a manager)it will make for interesting reading to see who our 25 man squad consists of,we've no choice but to throw the youngsters in at this stage, however support for B.R and LFC to the hilt and back,it's the only way I know!!!

  7. If we play with the youngsters at least there is a purpose to the season, next season we can only get stronger. If Rafa really have a special affection for Liverpool, we should offer him full control of our youth set up and also as a back up in case BR screws up further.

I think Liverpool will rue the departures of Maxi and Bellamy, plus the season-long banishment of Carroll. I don't think, however, that Liverpool have got rid of all of the dead wood - Reina, Downing and Henderson are still at Anfield. One European Cup, sorry, Chumpions League doesn't make someone forever a successful manager; Rafa Benítez's overall record should tell anyone that.

Meanwhile, have you, John, or any of you good readers out there, read Henry's open letter to the Anfield faithful? Prepare to be amused; it has more holes than an busted fishing-net..

  9. Yes Pat, I read it and I was not impressed.
Bottom-line is FSG left BG with Suarez and Borini as our only forwards, criminal!
