I AM SEETHING WITH RAGE AT FSG

John_Henry_counting_the Dimes
So, its out with the old and in with the new, yet its still the same old story.

Penny-pinching owners who care more about their draft players in Boston than investing a few quid into their pet-project, namely Liverpool Football Club.

Brendan Rodgers, to his immense credit, got rid of alot of deadwood at Anfield; Adam, Carroll, Kuyt, Maxi and Ecclestone, reducing the wage-bill and getting costs down.

Yet, inexplicably, FSG and John W Henry failed to grant him the £2 million it would have cost to buy a certain Clint Dempsey from Fulham(plus £4 million from the sale of Charlie Adam).

Ok, on the one hand I can understand the Boston owners unwillingness to squander precious money, two Summers in a row after Kenny Dalglish's disasterous spending last Season.

But, on the other hand, they should have backed Ian Ayre and Brendan Rodgers to buy Clint Dempsey at £6 million from Fulham.

Adam Morgan, keep your boots on and just literally stand on the six-yard line as thats where you score all your goals.

FSG, must do better!

  2. Anon, they wre not deadwood in the footballing sense, they were disenchanted with life at Liverpool, thus "deadwood" ok?

  3. dude your an idiot anfield is still called anfield fsg has brought stability to the club they care about tradition and are in it for the long haul not every team can be bought up by some bored billionaire get with reality son

  4. Agree with you John. Dempsey wanted to come to us. Can't blame him for choosing Spurs. It's either that, or risk being frozen at Fulham. We were linked to a couple of names before deadline and those are realistic and exciting targets. I was looking forward for their signings. To be frank, I am heartbroken right now. Really disappointed with FSG. Sure they have brought stability to the club but don't make the manager look like a fool. BR mentioned a couple of signings to the media and he ended up with none.

  5. Dude, Anfield may not be called Anfield much longer the way things are going.
Reality is: FSG failed to help out Brendan Rodgers in the search for a striker.

    Anon: Agree with you 100%

  6. This is definitely a sign of their ambition. They are no more willing to invest and just want to profit from Liverpool's commercial revenue, what ever is left of it. They could even be trying to sell the club should any investor be foolish enough to put in an offer. Any serious owners would know better that if you let your major striker to move on, you need to find cover. If they aren't even willing to invest in a low profile player with a good scoring record will only mean they are not bothered about the performance on the field but are interested only in the performance on our balance sheet. I support the club but not the way it is being run. BR is just part of a plan in their fire sale as another high profile manager would mean further bleeding of the accounts.

  9. It is like taking on a project hoping to turn a profit, but you realize that you are just pouring money in without any significant returns. They do not understand the feelings of the fans that not only do you get excitement and satisfaction from the teams performance but the signing of a exciting player also gives the fans satisfaction. I personally would have hope Carroll stayed and BR tried his best to bring out the best of Caroll than to take the easy way put and moved him, which did not really benefited the club except removing 80k a week from the expenses. If 80k is worth more than keeping an England striker, there is seriously something wrong with the club.

  11. Big blunder by FSG but we did sign Samed Yesil a quality young striker, now we must look at out of contract strikers like Michael Owen??, not nice but maybe our only chance to get cover of sorts!!!

  12. Better support Chelsea this session as Liverpool still toothless. Or support ManCity instead. You never disappointed by supporting either Chelsea or ManCity.

  13. You need to look closer to home and blame KD spending mass amounts on average players and not getting CL

    ReplyDelete
  14. Last season we had to spend that kind of money as no one else wanted to play for Liverpool. The players we wanted all chose CL football over us. For us to start attracting the players worthy of their price tags we have to be involved in the CL.. The money spent by KD, could have brought in a few world class players but world class players want CL. The owners we have don't have limitless amount of money, they don't have the passion of the fans they don't understand the club, they only treat this as another of their project. To them, balancing the book is their main aim. Until we are able to achieve CL, we won't be able to sign world class playerseven if we had the money.

  15. I think FSG have missed a bit trick had they paid the £6m for dempsey his goals could have helped secure C/L football there's £20m in the bank and they would have sold plenty of Dempsey shirts in America and recouped most if not all the fee paid for Dempsey they tried to be clever with Fulham thinking they held all the cards well how stupid have you made LFC look

FSG have really shot themselves in the foot over the past couple of months: Maxi has been allowed to leave, Andy Carroll has been loaned out to West Ham, and Liverpool have failed to capture Clint Dempsey. According to a couple of pals who are heavily into Italian football, Borini is okay but nothing spectacular. Kuyt was slowing up. Adam has gone; Downing and Henderson really have to follow him.

Bringing Michael Owen back is a multi-edged sword: he will bring much-needed experience, though he will only really be used as a substitute, and he may be regarded as a turncoat for having played for they who may not be mentioned.

    1. Hi Pat, I would take Owen back on a pay-as-you-play basis only, he's very injury-prone nowadays.
But needs must as we are desperate for a striker.
Rumours that Drogba is free, but he would never join the Reds, maybe Anelka would.

Liverpool have had a number of chances to get someone in; Sturridge and Dempsey, to name but two, and really should hve put a bid in for Diego Forlan. Well, we've been down this road before, and, well, here we are again..
