Well, that was a bad start to the new League Season.Three goals conceded, Agger sent off and Joe Cole limping off injured again.
I was afraid that an excellent coach in Steve Clarke would do us and do us he did.
Brendan Rodger's Liverpool had a good pre-season with two wins over FC Gomel in the Europa League and victory over Sammi's Bayer Leverkusen.
But that all counted for nothing after today's result at the Hawthorns.
Yes, we dominated the first-half with some slick passing and movement.
Yes, Joe Allen was at the heart of our midfield & had a fine debut.
But, Liverpool's wastefulness in front of goal cost us dearly.
Luis Suarez is a fine player but, at times, he misses glaring chances at goal.
I think he had five attempts in total, with only one bringing out a save from the West Bromwich keeper early in the first-half.
Referree Phil Dowd had a poor game awarding two penalties which should never have been given and the sending-off was very harsh and it changed the nature of the game.
The only criticism I would make of Brendan Rodgers was the taking off of Lucas in the second-half.
Up to that point, we were competing well at midfield, but once the hardy Brazilian went off, we were over-ran in the middle of the park and but for some fines saves by Pepe Reina, the scoreline would have been alot worse.
So, if we are not going to sell Andy Carroll, we need a new striker to finally replace Torres upfront.
Darren Bent at Villa was mentioned today, good option.
There must be others out there who could come to Liverpool and crack the goals in because we do need a new striker.

Guess we need a world class striker. Why do we always sell our best? This has being a question that no one gave me an answer. After 2005 the worst began, Rise and the rest went, LFC lost its taste. We got embarassed daily by underdogs. We don't have a team anylonger. A poor start is a bad luck. Why do we have a feeders team if we can't make use of them, are they not matured enough to fit in. We have young boys that are hungry for goals. I hope we learn from our mistakes. The tired legs should go and rest. We shall not walk alone. (I hope so).
ReplyDeleteYou are perfectly right bros.
DeleteLiverpool should put aside the old boys as gerard, carragher now. They have done a lot, thanks to them. The club should be rebuild with young players. For me its a shame for Liverpool Fc for being thrash like this by a WBA Team. The owners also should forget about profit making for the moment, instead they should invest for long term or else leave this prestigeous club for others who are willing to buy this great club and invest around the world. As a Liverpool fans i very very disappointed with this performance.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutly right, the owners should be blamed, They made so many dramatic interviews to recruit a manager. Instead they should invest if they should invest if rearly they are interested in this world class club otherwise there so many others who want to buy the club and invest.
DeleteWhat?!?!?! Those are probably the most #&+%#@^¥ comments I've read to date. Please point out the line of people waiting to buy the club? Should invest for the long term? Then why are you looking for instant results. FSG have invested, unfortunately a pile of it was spent on poor recommendations from Commoli and Dalglish. One league game, against our old coach who had months to prepare his team for an ambush, and people are having a cow! Dowd had a bit of a howler, doling out FA mandated yellow to Suarez, awarding a pk to a player as he was diving out of the box going away from goal. Relax folks, Rodgers and FSG are investing in the future, the results will come.
DeleteIt was indeed a poor start to the season,no doubt about that.what i believe also is that the young lads should be given a chance to prove their worth.Raheem has demonstrated his yearning desire to prove a point.I thought Jonjo should have started along side Allen and Lucas.
ReplyDeleteWe need some black power at lfc ,we have some powerful real madrid midfielder who played for everton called royston drenthe,i see borini struggling , we need a proven striker to do the finishing.atlast downing is not a good passer but shoots the ball the way he wants, this should be noted.so wat we need is a striker( try spanish or germany type) , royston drenthe and adam johnson. Sell carrol to get in a powerful striker ,drenthe is cheap and johnson can come for 12 million. The owners should spend !
ReplyDeleteSo it's all about bad luck and the lack of a striker!
ReplyDeleteWill you keep repeating this for the rest of the season?
Same old story, Totally Disgrace
ReplyDeleteliverpool needs to sharpen up,, the earkier we start counting our points, the better for de club...
