With all the negative reaction following Liverpool's capitulation to West Brom at the weekend, I am of the glass half-full side.Yes, we conceded three goals.
Yes, we were down to ten players after 58 minutes.
And yes, Luis Suarez missed a hatful of chances.
If I were Brendan Rodgers, I would make a simple change in the forwards. Instead of having Luis Suarez at the head of attack,
I would put new signing Fabio Borini directly upfront with Suarez to the right where he is more comfortable.
Borini scored six goals in nine games for Rodgers at Swansea in their promotion to the Premier League two years ago.
Before that he scored nine goals for Roma in 24 appearances in Italy.
He is a member of the Italian Squad which reached the Euro 2012 Final this Summer, so he has the quality to do well as an out and out forward for Liverpool this Season.
Try him up there against Hearts on Thursday Brendan and if the experiment works, keep him there!

might be true....we need a killer goal scorer....fancy footwork but no end product is no use..even Messi need to be a good finsiher...something Suarez lack off since last season too
ReplyDeleteWrong!I talked to some italians fans,they told me Borini is just about average.He's not the world class striker which Liverpool is badly in need.I get the feeling that this season AGAIN the lack of goalscorer will finish this club.Its so obvious that we need some who can score goals.We had Bellamy,Maxi Rodriguez and Kuyt who were among those who could score but they all left so there's a big void.We lost those who could save us and didn't replace them with equal or better quality.
ReplyDeleteI agree Suarez would be better suited on the right, in order for Liverpool to finish in the top four we need a 20 plus goalscorer which will be difficult given what we have available today. We also need to offload underperforming players before the window shuts, and bring in better quality replacements. It looks like we take forever to sign quality replacements so lets hope we have lots of work going on behind the scences.
