WHAT WILL KENNY DO NEXT?

A happy Kenny DalglishWith Kenny Daglish's recent departure from the Anfield hot-seat in favour of Swansea's Brendan Rodger's arrival,
I was wondering what King Kenny will do next.

Will he join the media circus at ITV,BBC or SKY, I doubt it very much, Kenny never had much faith in the press as evidenced down the years with his abravise attitude to the media in general.

Will he spend more time on the golf-course, yes he will, he loves the green and leafy surrounds of the range where he plays frequently.

Will he Promote again The Marina Dalglish Foundation which has raised over £1.5 million in cash to benefit Cancer detection, of course he will.

He might also decide to have a flutter on

There is talk from new Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers that Kenny Dalglish may have a place for him in his set-up describing Dalish as Liverpool legend whom he could never replace.

He has suggested that there may well be an Ambassadorial role or a back-room role for Liverpool's iconic figure.

He deserves it.

An ambassadorial role at Liverpool would be perfect for the man (remember the aftermath of the Hillsborough Disaster?), though one can imagine that it would be very difficult for him to go back to work for the people who sacked him in such an underhand manner.

It would need a show of magnanimity from Dalglish for him to go back; it was certainly very magnanimous of Rogers to invite him to become one of his staff, if the rumours are true, of course.

  3. Pat &#39, exactly what do you believe to be "the underhanded manner" of the sacking to be?

  4. I think Pat is referring to the way King Kenny was ordered across to America to be sacked by John W Henry.

Anonymous, I could have used the word "trenchant" (or, indeed, "despicable") to describe Henry's actions against Dalglish, but I think "underhand" does the job just as well..

  6. John, Pat &#39, Henry is the boss, everyone below him are his employees. It is not unusual, underhanded or despicable for a higher level executive have his underling required to attend a meeting at the seniors location of choice. None of us here know the full plans that FSG had for that meeting or all that transpired at said meeting, only the publicized result. I'm sute FSG wanted Dalglish to succeed as much as the rest of us, after all they did give him a huge pile of cash to spend. It was an absolute win-win for FSG, if only Dalglish and the Reds won. Kenny played his cards (line-ups, tactics, and substitutions) and lost most all except for the least prestigious cup in all their competitions. Pat & #39, it is obvious that your huge Kenny fans but bashing the owners for wanting what they see as the best for their club does no one any good. Let go of the past and hope for your teams future.

  7. Yes anon, Kenny did squander alot of money on very average players and we finished eight in the League, but Dalglish told Jamie Carragher to call him "Kenny, not boss" when he boarded the plane for Boston.
He knew his fate but still had to trot across the Atlantic to be sacked, wrong in my humble opinion.

Anonymous, with respect, I am not just a Dalglish fan but a Liverpool fan, and have been since I was able to beat the dog over the head with the spoon, as the old saying goes. Does common human decency and a bit of patience not count any more? I don't want to intrude on John's territory here, but I wrote a blog last year entitled "The Sacking of Roy Hodgson."

If you would care to take a look, you will see that I am not just a "huge Kenny fan" but someone who loves the club and wants to see people given the time and resources to help bring the club back to where it belongs. If you think Dalglish was badly treated, then Hodgson was taken outside, bound, and fed to the dogs. Both men were shamefully treated, and it shows a distinct lack of respect from the owners.

  9. John, how should have it been handled then? We all surmise, and clearly Kenny thought/knew in his mind, that FSG was calling him back to the home office to sack him but how do we know they weren't prepared to try to repair the damage that had been done? How do we know that Kenny knew in his mind that he was going to fall on his sword no matter what happened when he made the comment to Cara? Clearly the man was toast at the end of an arduous season. Calling a face to face meeting, with principles in attendance, is the only way it should have happened and the Owners chose to do the meeting in Boston. There is no way FSG didn't feel bad about the end result of that meeting, even if it was strictly called to sack Kenny. Everyone, especially them, would have been crazy with pride if Kenny had led the team back to glory, imagine what that would have done for the LFC brand worldwide. Unfortunately, as was obvious to most everyone, the game had truly passed Kenny by and FSG did what they thought best for the Club.

  10. Anon, there is no easy way or right way to sack a Manager, if thats what has to be done.
But I personaly, beleve it was the wrong way to do it.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  11. So you didn't like it then?
