PREMIER LEAGUE TABLE COMPARISON 2011-2012

Liverpool still have not recaptured their form of the second half of last season when they galliantly finished 6th having Kenny Dalglish take over for the dour football played under defensive Manager, Roy Hodgson.
Kenny Dalglish was appointed Liverpool Manager and he went attack all the way and Liverpool finished a creditable 6th last Season.

However, this Season has seen far too many draws, it points to a lack of goal-scoring ability among the forwards that we have and it has cost us in the League and may cost us in the FA Cup aswell.
A return to the Champions League position's now looks a forlorn hope  and unless we sign a decent striker in the Summer, it will remain the same.

  1. Forget about champions league. we are nowhere in that quality. how dare we even think of qualifying when the team plays like that. Year in year out, all this clubs only thinks of 4th placing. Surely it must do better? think bigger?

  2. LFC is starting to gel and that's a strong positive. The last match against Arsenal was reassuring. Next season I'm expecting LFC to perform better and be among the top 4 with or without transfers.

  3. Liverpool need a striker that can do the finishing touches...seeing us doing well against Arsenal but the end product of putting the ball in the net is the most important thing...Arsenal RVP just need 2 touches for 2 goals...

First of all, John, I must disagree with you about your comments on Roy Hodgson; don't forget that the Reds were up the creek (and broke) thanks to Hicks & Gillette and that Hodgson took over a demoralised squad. The man was on a hiding to nothing from the start; Benítez left so much dead wood behind that Hodgson could have been forgiven for thinking that he'd started working at a saw-mill. Hodgson was the fall-guy, and deserved to have been treated so much better, by the club and by the supporters.

Then there was the display against Arsenal over the weekend; very impressed with the approach play, but some bad luck added to woeful finishing (not to mention Dirk's penalty) meant that the three points were heading south (no pun intended).

Everybody's still clinging to the hope of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Chumpions' League. Strikers are needed, not to mention some quality defensive cover. Where have our standards gone (spot on, Anonymous no. 1)?

I remember when fourth place was seen as a disaster; now it is seen as a major triumph. Baby steps, folks; forget the Chumpions' League - Liverpool should be aiming for the Holy Grail..the Premier League. Nothing less than a top-two finish is good enough.

Mrs Henry, kindly persuade your hubby and the rest of the clan to splash the cash and reinforce the squad! Right, diatribe over; back to making the dinner..

  5. Hi Pat, hope you had a nice dinner.
Basically, we need a top-class striker whoever is in charge if we want to progress as a club.
