JOVANOVIC TO JOIN ANDERLECHT NEXT WEEK

Latest rumours surrounding Serbian International, Milan Jovanovic appear to suggest that the player has almost agreed personal terms with Belgian club Anderlecht.
His agent has claimed that a deal has almost been done between the two clubs and that all that remains now is for the forward to agree his weekly wages with the club.
"Milan will definitely come to Anderlecht.

"We are talking again and everything looks good: the sporting aspects, financial, contributions. We are still a few solutions [away] but there is movement."

Don't rot in the reserves Jova, move on with our best wishes for the future.
After tonite's abject 3-0 defeat to Galatasaray, I really hope we off-load a few more squad players.
They are crippling the future of Liverpool.
The likes of Degen, Poulsen, El Zhar, Insua, Cole must be sold or allowed to go on free transfers, if needs be, to allow Kenny Dalglish to fully rebuild the team and the squad.
We still have alot of work to do at Anfield to make us into title contenders.
Next up: Monday; Valerengay v Liverpool.

SUAREZ & URAGUAY WIN THE COPA AMERICA

Liverpool's Luis Suarez won the Copa America tonight, beating Paraguay by 3 goals to nil.

It was Suarez himself who opened the scoring with a deflected goal on 11mins and our Anfield hero was a constant threat to the Paraguyan defence.

He set up Diego Forlan for the second with a nicely weighted headed pass for the Athletico Madrid striker to slam home on 41 mins.

Uraguay were much the stronger side throughout the game and the game was put beyond doubt with Forlan's second on 89mins.
It was Uraguay's first win of the Copa since 1995.
Indeed, Suarez was named Player of the Tournament with his 4 goals and his overall displays earning him a deserved award.

So 'El Pistolero' will now take a well-earned break from football,
at £22.5 million, we have got ourselves a diamond.

AQUILANI "STAYING AT LIVERPOOL"

Welcome news today is that it looks like Liverpool playmaker, Alberto Aquilani will be staying at Anfield.
The attacking midfielder returned from his loan-spell at Juventus this Summer and he has been very impressive in the pre-season friendlies in the Far East, setting up several goals for his team-mates.

His agent, Franco Zavaglia, told Radio Mana Mana: "Aquilani will definitely stay at Liverpool."

Aquilani has infamously struggled with injury, making just nine Premier League starts for Liverpool in two years, but Zavaglia added: "Alberto has got over his ankle problem, he's back in the international set-up and has the characteristics needed to do well in the Premier League.
"He's in pre-season training with Liverpool and has played in all of the team's summer tour games so far."

While Liverpool do need to sell many of their squad players to reduce the wage-bill, it is believed now that Aquilani is not one of those thought to be leaving.

DOWNING OFFICIALLY A LIVERPOOL PLAYER

Liverpool finally confirmed the sign of Stewart Downing on a long-term contract with wages rumoured at £75,000 a week, here is what he told Liverpool's Official Website:

"It's a great feeling and I'm very happy to be here," the 26-year-old told Liverpoolfc.tv. "It's been a long time coming and I've had to wait a few weeks, but I'm really pleased to be here.
"With the tradition, the manager and the players they have here, there was a big temptation to come here and once I knew of their interest, there was only one place I wanted to go."
He added: "It will be a great feeling to run out at Anfield. It's always nice to come and play here.
The atmosphere is always great and the fans are brilliant.
"When I wanted to come to Liverpool, it was the first thing I thought of - playing at Anfield in front of those great fans. I'm really looking forward to it."
Downing became Liverpool's fourth major signing of a busy summer so far, following in the footsteps of Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Alexander Doni.

Downing said: "It would be nice to win something. I'm sure that's the same objective for everyone, not just me personally.
"My aim is to be in the team, to play well and give something back because the manager has pushed the boat out to get me here, so hopefully I can give him something back."
Downing's acquisition significantly bolsters the options at Dalglish's disposal for 2011-12, with the new signing capable of operating comfortably on either flank.
He admits, however, that he'll be happy to fill in wherever the gaffer sees fit.
Downing said: "It depends on where the manager sees me playing. Last season at Aston Villa I played on the right, I can play on the left.
"Getting a few goals and a few assists for the lads up front, that's what I'm hoping for."

Again well-done to Kenny, Comolli and John W Henry for the titanic efforts they made in signing this quality England winger.

DOWNING ON THE VERGE OF LIVERPOOL MOVE

Well done to Daniel Comolli, FSG and John Henry for getting Stewart Downing to Liverpool subject to a medical.
The pursuit of the Aston Villa winger took a few twists and turns with his club steadfastly holding out for a hefty £20 million fee.
To Liverpool's credit, they eventually met the price and despite interest from Arsenal, they now look set to sign the winger, subject to a medical at Melwood and personal terms being agreed with the England International.
Downing scored 9 goals in 69 appearances for Villa along with countless assists from the left-wing.
He will become a vital player for Liverpool as other new recruit Charlie Adam will look to find him with passes from midfield to play crosses into the box for striker Andy Carroll.
Aston Villa Chief Executive Paul Faulkner said: "I can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Liverpool following an improved offer received earlier today and the formal transfer request by Stewart Downing and have subsequently given them permission to speak with the player."
The jigsaw is finally taking shape for Liverpool.

"A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe you are the best and then make sure that you are. "

LIVERPOOL MUST ACT NOW TO GET DOWNING

With the news emerging that Arsenal have joined the race to sign Stewart Downing, it is vital that Daniel Comolli proves his worth and FSG sign the winger as soon as possible.

Alex McLeish has publicly stated that the England International was ''not for sale'', but this is viewed as a sop to the Villa Park fans, having already seeing Ashley Young to Man Utd this Summer.
It is known that Aston Villa would be prepared to listen to offers of £20 million for the talented 26 year old.
Liverpool have been pursuing the player in the past few weeks, having first tabled an offer of £12 million then increasing that bid to £15 million, but now that Arsenal have entered the market for Downing with an £18 million bid, it really is time for all concerned at Anfield to stop messing around, offer Randy Learner the £20 million he wants and get the lad signed.
We have already lost out on Conor Wickham and Phil Jones to other clubs so now is the time to act decisively and secure Downing who says he wants to play for Liverpool.

NEWS OF THE WORLD TO CEASE TRADING

That rag known as The News of the World is to shut-down this weekend.
Following its disgraceful 'phone-hackings' of a murdered teenage girl, victims of the 2005 London tube bombings and deceased British soldiers, the 'newspaper' was under intense pressure from the public and the parliament to act.
Rupert Murdoch, detested owner of the paper (and other titles The Times and The Sun, of course, which has been boycotted in Liverpool since its outrageous lies about the Hillsborough tragedy), had pulled the plug on the NOTW.
Glad to see the back of it.
He is not just doing this out of a sense of remorse, far from it, he is trying to take total control of BSkyB and he is afraid of losing out on that bid because of the actions of his paper.
Mr. Murdoch, close down the Sun while you are at it.
