Liverpool owner John W Henry has this evening appointed Ian Ayre as the new Managing Director of the great club,
Speaking to LFC.TV, Henry said;
"Ian has enormous experience gained from his work in the sports and media businesses over the past 15 years and we are delighted today to announce this significant appointment. We conducted an extensive recruitment search and met with outstanding candidates who sought this role but in the end, after having worked with Ian and other top executives within the club, we realised that Ian had all of the attributes necessary to lead the Club forward."
The club has also promoted Daniel Comolli to the post of Liverpool Directer of Football.
It remains a mystery as to why there has been no news regarding the awarding of a permanent contract to boss, Kenny Dalglish.
That should happen sooner rather than later.

LIVERPOOL'S LEAGUE RUN IN
The quest for fourth maybe just beyond us this season, but finishing fifth and qualifying for Europe is still within Kenny Dalglish's grasp as Liverpool Manager this season.
Here are our remaining games for the 2010/2011 season:
West Brom - Away
Man City - Home
Arsenal - Away
Birmingham -Home
Newcastle - Home
Fulham - Away
Spurs - Home
Aston Villa - Away
Some tricky ties there, but who knows if we beat City, Spurs and Arsenal along the way, we might even finish in 4th.
Fifth does look realisticaly within our grasp for sure.

LIVERPOOL'S OWNER HINTS AT CONTRACT FOR DALGLISH
After Liverpool's morale-boosting win v Sunderland on Sunday, new Liverpool owner John W Henry has commented on the saga over giving Kenny Dalglish a permanent contract at the club.
"What's going on in that regard is private," Henry insisted after watching as goals by Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez sealed the win.
"It's something called the Liverpool way and you do these things behind closed doors. I'm not going to talk about these things, but he's done very well."
It appears that the scotsman has done enough to curry favour with the new owners to gain a permanant contract with the club he cherishes so dearly.
Well done Kenny, you deserve it.
Keep going as you are and we may well finish 4th this season, unthinkable uinder Hodgson.

REINA WANTS A MOVE
Pepe Reina has further fuelled the fire about speculation that he will quit Anfield in the Summer.
The Spanish shot-stopper has frequently been linked with a move away from Liverpool this season and tonite he has said:
“It’s not about being patient. It’s about the club winning and I want to be competitive.”
It appears that the keeper, good as he has been for Liverpool is actively seeking a move away from Anfield following the departure of compatriots manager Rafa Benitez and players Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso in the past two seasons.
It is believed that our keeper has a £20 million buyout clause in his six-year contract and that Arsene Wenger is willing to meet that price following the poor displays by Almunia and co.
Maybe Liverpool should go for out-of-favour Shay Given of Man City.
The Irish International who is very talented and experienced and would be an ideal replacement should Reina decide to leave in the summer.

Kenny Dalglish gets two year deal from new owners
At last!
Kenny Dalglish has been endorsed by owners the Fenway Group under John W Henry by being given a permanent two-year contract.
Good news all around as the issue was beginning to fester around the club as each day and result went by.
The club's new owners are now also likely to release funds in the Summer for the addition of new players to bolster the midfield and flanks.
Congrats and well done Kenny.

THE UP & DOWN LIFE OF SUPPORTING LIVERPOOL
After the scintillating brilliance of our performance v Man Utd on Sunday, it was back to the mid-table, Roy Hodgson style mediocrity of a soul-less and dispiriting performance against Sparta Braga.
A 1-0 defeat was a bit harsh on this Liverpool team, yet it was scarcely more than the team deserved.
Liverpool were set out to do a job defence and midfield with Poulson and the youngster Spearing asked to do the pressing and holding in midfield.
But the tactics and the players failed to adapt.
Time after time a pass wass misplaced, a tackle was missed and an opportunity was lost by Liverpool.
Our ineptitude was shown by the early penalty given away by Kyrgiakos when the Braga player was running away from goal, a foolish tackle by him.
Liverpool looked listless and leaderless throughout the game, missing Steven Gerrard through injury, nobody came forward to lead the team and we looked pretty rudderless throughout.
The inroduction of £35 million man Andy Carroll in the 56th minute stirred Liverpool into life and we began pinging in high balls to him which he met well on every occaision, without scoring a goal though.
Joe Cole had another poor game although, he shud have had a penalty when he was brought down in the box, otherwise, he was ineffectual again.
"Nobody can be pleased with the performance or the result. We won't be able to assess if we have contributed to our downfall until Thursday night." Kenny was quoted as saying after the game, he must wonder, as I do, how his team can go from being brilliant v Man utd on Sunday to being abject on Thursday.

Gerrard out, Carroll in v Braga
It seems that Liverpool Fc will have to do without the services of Captain Steven Gerrard for the trip to Portugeuse side FC Braga on Thursday night.
Liverpool's talisman is nursing a groin injury and has been lft at home to recover.
Andy Carroll has been included following a cameo appereance in the great win against Man Utd on Sunday and he is expected to play some part in the game against a side which also like Liverpool, lie 6th in their Leagues in Portugal & England.
So Its all to play for on Thursday, a 1-0 win would do nicely out there.

CHELSEA BEAT UTD, TORRES IS ANONYMOUS
Good news, well, it depends how you look at it. Chelsea beat Utd, Torres didn't score again and Vidic got banned for the visit to Anfield!
It opens up the race for the Premiership again with Arsenal 4 points behind Utd with a game in hand.
It also means that Chelsea have moved beyond Liverpool's reach in the race for 4th, we are now 8 points behind Spurs who are in 5th.
With the visit of Ferguson's team on Sunday to Anfield, we have to flood the midfield with Spearing, Lucas, Gerrard and Miereles to combat Utd's strong quartet.
Without Vidic and Ferdiand, Utd maybe nervous at conceeding goals, especially if Andy Carroll makes his debut for Liverpool.
We live in hope, certainly, we can improve on our performance against West Ham.

THINGS LOOKING GRIM FOR UTD GAME
Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool face up to Man Utd at Anfield on Sunday at 1.30 pm with several injury problems.
Martin Kelly is definately out for at least a month following the hamstring injury he picked up in our defeat at West Ham.
Raul Miereles, our chief goal-getter of late, is also a major doubt after picking up a knee injury on Sunday.
Kyrgiakos and Daniel Agger are also doubts with head and groin injuries.
Fabio Aurelio is also out with a groin strain.
It is unclear wether record-signing, Andy Carroll, will make his long-awaited debut for the Reds, he is still abit short on match-fitness.
The biggest problem lies in our midfield.
Teams have worked out how to play us, by flooding the centre with hard-working midfielders.
If Kenny is to get the job full-time in the Summer then his priority must be a midfield enforcer.
The petulent Mascherano did a great job for us there, but, like Xabi Alonso, he hasn't been properly replaced.
We have a good defence and a potentialy great attack but we need shoring up in the midfield and young Lucas, improved as he has, is still not the answer.
