TWO NEW BIDS FOR LIVERPOOL

Liverpool FC Statement

"The Board of Directors have received two excellent financial offers to buy the Club that would repay all its long-term debt.
A Board meeting was called today to review these bids and approve a sale. Shortly prior to the meeting, the owners - Tom Hicks and George Gillett - sought to remove Managing Director Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre from the Board, seeking to replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutcheon.
This matter is now subject to legal review and a further announcement will be made in due course.
Meanwhile Martin Broughton, Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre continue to explore every possible route to achieving a sale of the Club at the earliest opportunity."
Dramatic days at Anfield, those effing Yanks will try to stop at nothing to hold on to our club, lets hope the courts over-rules the bastards and we get rid of them once and for all.
It is rumoured that one of the bidders is the owner of NLB's Boston Redsoxs, John W Henry.
I know nothing about him, as yet, but another American owner is the last thing we need.
The other bidder is believed to be from Asia/China.
One thing is certain, the board members Broughton, Pulson and Nash are determined to rid Liverpool FC of Hicks and Gillette.
Keep it up men!

  1. It's the "Major League Baseball (MLB)" Boston Red Sox, not the "National Football League."

John Henry has been a fantastic owner of the Sox and I think he'd be an awesome owner of LFC.

Also, there's a lot of commonalities between Boston and Liverpool and I personally think it'd be a great connection for the fans of both clubs and cities.

  2. Also, it's more than a bit xenophobic to write off all Yanks.

We aren't all the same as Statler and Waldorf...some of us have respect for tradition and history. John Henry has shown great care for the history and tradition, and especially for the fans of the Red Sox.

LFC could well do worse in ownership.

  3. MLB, right scotty, I have some friends in Boston myself.
Just this idea of franchises instead of proper football clubs leaves me feeling nervous.
Mind you, he has to be better than Hicks.

  4. Fair enough...the world football club system is markedly different than the American franchise system but, I think Henry and Co. would grasp the intricacies and be able to effectively manage the club.

And just fyi, here's John Henry's wiki entry for those unfamiliar with him http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_W._Henry

    YNWA!

  5. Thanks for the link Scotty.
He seems alright on the face of it.
Hicks wants to sack the board to prevent a takeover happening.
The Courts could take months and onths to solve this soory saga
