RAFA SACKED WHILE HE WAS ON HIS HOLIDAYS!

Rafa Benitez' shabby treatment by MD Christian Purslow is now in the public domain.
After six years of dediation to Liverpool Football Club, his departure was swift and ruthless.
"It was really sad," Benítez said when discussing his departure in an interview with Radio City today. "I was on holiday so it was a surprise that everything was going on in this way, but at the end of the day it has to be like this because Christian Purslow is now in charge and he decided to do it in this way. That is it"
Hardly the 'Liverpool way' of doing things.
When Gerrard Houllier was relieved of his duties, the old Liverpool board of David Moores and company held a dignified press conference along with Houllier, thanking him for his time at the club and wishing him well for the future.
That was a luxury not afforded to Rafa Benitez, sadly and our club is all the poorer for it.
Hang your head in shame Purslow, why the great haste in sacking the manager when you are taking so long in finding a replacement?

  1. well, i accept all opinions and thanks for the news. But as far as my point of view is concerned, I think many liverpool fans are rapidly ungrateful when they face something that is against their will. Have they already forgot that Purslow and co. got a record shirt deal? We should thanked them for that.

Secondly, who on earth wanted Rafa to stay? I am the first to say that rafa is a great tactician and this has been reflected in the CL. But in the premier league he has made many mistakes. Particularly the last season he reached its peak in making mistakes. So much so that rafa lost completely the dressing room. Why on earth would Purslow and co. keep a manager who has lost the dressing room? Will that be a good decision to do so? Not at all.

What is more amazing is that everybody knew rafa had to be sacked, so now when he is sacked, suddenly almost all fans are disapproving it. What the hell?

Maybe the tact could have been different, because all managers need to have some dignity. I must say Rafa will always be in my memory as fighter and a die hard lover of liverpool. I hope one day when he learns from all his mistakes he makes a come back to Liverpool.

One last thing. All fans of liverpool were pushing for Dalglish as the future manager. When it seems Purslow and co. are not agreeing this, all fans are once more taking them as lions. But guys, they should also take into account their stakeholders. And one important stakeholders are the sponsors. Moreover, this club is in selling process and to put a manager who has not been in the business for more than 10 years is very risky in the sense that it can result in a catastrophe. Do u think people would want to buy such a liverpool? NO. So its safer to take a manager who has more experience and the probability of failure will much more lesser than that of a FANS who lacks years of experience.

    Thx... :)

  2. Good comment sadjid.
I agree that Rafa's time was up but the way the board handled it was disgraceful.
The fact that that they are struggling to get a manager with a mixed record is beyond me.

  3. I and many of my friends wanted Rafa to stay, sadjid Taujoo!

It just shows that you can only speak for yourself, so stop pretending that your opinions are shared by everyone.

You have no idea what is going in the dressing room. Your conclusion is clearly influenced by the British media which are prejudiced against Rafa, and the garbage heap of ex-Liverpool players such as Alan Hansen, Jamie Redknapp, Ronnie Whelan etc, who have contributed nothing directly to football other than talking rubbish all the time.

Think, the number of ex-Reds working in the media could easily have formed a squad in any club. None of these talkers can do any talking on the pitch is a real disgrace. Unlike the likes of Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes.

Just tell me one thing truthfully, can you remember any manager who have been treated so badly and so grossly unfairly by the British media than Rafa Benitez in England?

For the record, Rafa had done better than the great Sir Alex Ferguson had in his first six years at Man United, who almost got sacked. Imagine if he had, we probably wont be talking about Man U overtaking Liverpool in the league title hurl.

Now that Rafa had gone, we would never know he might be another Sir Alex waiting to happen, would we?

It is amazing that how normally fair-minded men can be so unfair when it comes to Rafa Benitez.

Rotation, zonal marking, it is as if these are the inventions of Rafa Benitez.

No one talks about zonal marking when the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Aston Villa play. No one associate rotation with Spurs, Man U, Chelsea or Arsenal.

I could go on and on about most criticism Rafa received which were unfounded.

  4. I just want to add that those who believe that Liverpool can change for the better by removing Rafa Benitez will be disappointed if the real issues remain unchanged at Anfield.

Rafa Benitez was the easy target of the blame game.

Which other manager in world football is better than Rafa Benitez in terms of track records?

    Those who are, are unavailable.

Those who hoped for Jose Mourinho, such as Stan Collymore, don't know anything about Mourinho. No,they don't know anything at all.

Mourinho would never join Liverpool under the current circumstances at Anfield.

Mourinho only joins clubs which have at least 95% chance of winnig major titles. Hence, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

    Roy Hodgson?

I am just waiting to see how these critics of Rafa, (the same who bashed Gerard Houllier, remember?) react when, not if, Liverpool fail.

  5. Stevie, if u wanted rafa to stay then u must a blind fans who do not know how to watch football. Its high time for you to stop playing fifa manager and face the reality.

To say that most fans wanted rafa to stay is something u will need to prove to me. Rafa has lost the dressing room and thats a fact. To say otherwise is only a way to fool urself. The face that Gerrard made when Torres was replaced in the Birmingham match reflects the blatant truth that ur beloved rafa lost the dressing room.

Also, i am not getting influenced by any media or whatsoever since I have an eye to see that rafa has completely lost it in his last season.

To persist in playing gerrard behind torres (or any other forward) did not work this season. Or will u say I am being brainwashed?

Secondly, rafa is obsessed by the 4-2-3-1 and he rarely ever try other tactics. One match (i forgot which match) he put a defensive team on the pitch. insua, kryankos, agger, carragher, aurelio (LM), mascherano, leiva, rodriguez, kuyt, n'gog. And u think with this team he could have won the premier league??? and for this match liverpool made a draw.

The fact are here to see, and stop being blind. Rafa needed to be sacked and Purslow made a wonderful job to sack him.

Its not because Rafa has given 100, 000 pound to hillsbrough family that u stop use ur mind.

I love rafa, but he needed to be sacked.
