Friends of Liverpool FC: HICKS & GILLETTE LOWER THEIR ASKING PRICE

HICKS & GILLETTE LOWER THEIR ASKING PRICE

It appears that hated American owners of Liverpool, Hicks & Gillette have lowered their asking price down to £560 million due to pressure from RBS (finally) and Watchovia, the two banks they are in hock to.
The despised duo are apparently in talks with a middle east consortium to buy the club at a far more realistic price.
This will please every Liverpool fan, if it turns out to be true.
It also seems likely that the prospective new owners wish to install Guus Hiddink as the new Liverpool boss, although he is contracted to manage the Turkish national side and may be hard to get.
He would be an ideal candidate for the job at Liverpool.
More news to follow as soon as I get it...

It appears that the prospective new owner may be a wealthy Arabian figure.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is the current President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir (Ruler/ Leader) of Abu Dhabi. He is one of the wealthiest Arab businessmen in the World. He is wealthier than his half-brother, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who is the owner of Manchester City FC.

Sheikh Khalifa, as he is known, is said to be the third wealthiest royal with his net-worth around $19 billion, he also has major interest in Abu Dhabi and UAE developments.
If he successfully takes over Liverpool, he will look to make major investments in the club and according to stats, with his wealth Liverpool could have more financial power than both Manchester City and Roman Abromovich's Chelsea.

  4. Paul Liverpool,
I can confirm this rumour has been txt to me from a reliably informed person close to Liverpool football club.
The txt actually reads "Liverpool football club has been sold for £560 million to a member of the Abu Dhabi family and the deal will be formally announced on July 15th 2010". I have also been informed that no managerial appointment will be made prior to this announcement and the names currently linked are smoke screens.
I personally hope this is true.

  7. A few additional snipets I got this morning, again I'm unsure of the reliability but will post what I have been told "this guy informed me that neither Rafa nor his wife Montese had renewed there memberships at a golf course they had been members of for years. I got this information 2 weeks prior to the news of Rafa leaving Liverpool". He says that: "the new investment will involve: David Moores, Rick Parry, and Gerard Houlier. In what capacities are unclear but I don't beleive it will be in any financial capacity". If I get more I will post again.

  8. Hi Paul. Interesting to see Moores, Parry and Houllier being mentioned again, wonder if thats true, I don't want them back though.

  9. Hi John,
Parry, and Houlier were the worrying ones for me, as I think Purslow, and Ian Ayre have done really well since joining. I can see Moores staying in the same capacity he is now.

  11. Is this regurgitated koptalk bollox?
    ReplyDelete
  12. No its not Koptalk bollox, I do my own research.
It turns out that Hicks and Gillette got no bids at £800 million so they had no choice but to lower the price.

  13. Hi Paul, is this true about the Dubai family taking over? It's just that you said a manager won't be announced prior to this apparent takeover but Hodgson was announced on July 1st. So do this mean that this takeover is not true?
