GERRARD: "I WANT TO LEAVE"

News coming out of Spain suggest that Stevie G may be on his way out of Anfield.
Spanish newspaper La Marca says that Liverpool's talisman has told the club that he wants to leave.
Gerrard cut a forlorn figure throughout much of last season and speculation about his future has increased by the day with Real Madrid ready to make a £30 million offer for the player.
If these reports are to be believed then its a sad day for Liverpool, without a manager, without new owners and without much optimism for the immediate future.

  1. Good riddance. I may be stupid but I'm no mug. All Gerrard needed to say was I'm staying or going...but he let the speculation roll. Thanks but you've been well paid for your service. Don't insult our intelligence by banging on about loving LFC when you walk out in our darkest hour. And leaving for Mourinho! Enough said.

  2. Tik Tox, you have not got a clue. Gerrard one of the finest player ever to pull on the shirt. He's alongside King Kenny without doubt. If he wants to go, let him go. We dont need players who dont want to be there. Stevie's Love or loyalty is unquestionable, but LIVERPOOL FC is more important than any man. If he goes, he goes. No need for nastygrams, lets be a bit more dignified and just say thanks to our Greatest Ever Scoucer.

  3. Anonymous....I reserve the right to disagree with you. Great player, yes but a living god he isn't. I cannot conveniently forget his gushing over the club and wanting to stay for life. Why do players say such things? Reading back my comments, I don't see anything that's inaccurate. Certainly don't see anything 'nasty'...just an opinion borne from supporting the club for 35 years.

  4. Tik Tox, I thing Stevie G is a Liverpool legend and owes us nothing, if he does decide to leave Anfield.
His heart wasn't in it last season

  5. I'm not suggesting he owes us anything. I'm suggesting that he comes out with sweeping statements about wanting to stay for life only to leave when the club needs him most. Personally, I've heard it from Ronaldo at United, Fabregas recently at Arsenal and I see it for what it is. PR!

  6. Thank you John. Sorry but modern day football has made me a cynic. I believe that SG has done much for Liverpool but likewise, LFC has been a platform for him (in my opinion the greatest platform). Contrary to what some might say, he did not win all those trophies on his own. We will miss him but how many of us will feel the same about SG when he is seen kissing the badge of Madrid? I, for one, know that I could never place more importance on success abroad than the badge of the club I love. If Liverpool wanted me, I could not leave and certainly wouldn't do so if I had said that I wouldn't.

  7. Tik Tox, I think he has done his best for our club down the years and given us many special moments, he owes Liverpool nothing, so if he wants to go then its goodbye Stevie, thanks for the memories and best of luck in the future.

  8. Can't blame him. In my opinion, he is leaving not because he doesn't love Liverpool FC, not because of the current situation the club is in. But look who are his bosses....the 2 dicks from USA. They say the club is bigger than any individual, but the owners also determines the culture and beliefs of the club. I don't blame any players leaving as a protest to the owners. I won't be surprise if next season we are fighting a relegation battle. Many of you will say its not possible, but prior to last season after finishing 2nd in the league, if I'd say we will finish 7th the following season, you'll say the same thing...its not possible...but it happened and with the mood at the club because of the stubborness of the owners, I don't see how things can look good for the future of the club. We as fans know it would be a waste because of the history of the club, but the Americans don't care cause it doesn't mean anything to them. They can sell even their own sport clubs in the states without any care, what more Liverpool....we can only hope that the fans discontent with the owners will eventually wear them down before they wear Liverpool down.....

  9. funny how this article eminates out of spain. And funny how england are currently in a media lockdown. Come on people, remove head from sphincter then speak. 95% of what is written in the media is pure BS, the other 5% is questionable at the best of times. So before you go on slaggin Gerrard, think for just minute. The media are instigating the turmoil that is currently destroying our intergrity. Don't get caught up in the agenda. The only way we can come out strong is if we remain unified, and not let the media unravel us.....

  11. It wouldn’t surprise me if Gerrard left for Real Madrid, he has looked unhappy at Liverpool for a while, this could be his last change for a really big money move, however a change of manager at Liverpool may persuade him to stay.
