The Inter Milan boss is very interested in the chance to replace Rafa Benitez this summer.
But Mourinho has no intention of joining a club with a divided boardroom under the American co-owners.
Mourinho has told associates the prospect of reviving the Merseysiders does appeal, but he would need to be sure he would have the resources to succeed. Liverpool will sound out Mourinho as they consider a change of management this summer.
But Manchester City and Real Madrid are also interested in the ex-Chelsea boss.
Ironically, Mourinho would want the same guarantees on funding and ownership at Liverpool that Benitez has demanded.
The Kop boss is aware his position is under review and his boardroom support has been evaporating since January.
It seems that Rafa Benitez is also considering his future.
Mourinho is top of any list of candidates to replace the Spaniard although Manchester City and Real Madrid are also in the hunt for his services.
Although the Kop fans are divided on the position of their manager, they are united in their concern about what calibre of replacement Liverpool will attract if the Americans don't go.
There is a growing sense of desperation and exasperation at the Americans' stance as they appear to be in a state of delusion about the true value of the Merseyside club.
Kop officials will know in the next two weeks if the £100m cash injection from the Rhone Group hedge fund will go ahead.
While I think Rafa is still the man for the job, what would Mourinho bring to the club?
Maybe the coveted Title after all these years.
What do you think?
Is it time to embrace 'The Special One', or should we stick with Rafa for one more season, after all, we still might win the Europa League and gain 4th place this year.

Europa win and 4th place is setting our standards really low after last season! But would José bring his defensive style of football, but would the Kop care as long as he brings the title?
ReplyDeleteEuropa & 4th place is simply not good enough following last season! We are better than that and I don't think we should have to settle.
ReplyDeleteBut if we bring José, will he bring his defensive style of play? But will the Kop mind if he brings us a title?
I think Jose is the only man at the moment that could bring the glory days back to liverpool. He's outspoken and confident. He knows what he's doing with a team. The man knows players and, compared to rafa, he can talk to players and get close to them. Thats something that stevie g has even pointed out that rafa lacks. Liverpool need a true leader with balls! Brings on the reign of jose and let the past be the past! We have to look forward. We cant do that with rafa. Too many supporters have lost confidence.
ReplyDeletecant wait until this edgit is gone, been waiting too long now for the title and we aint geting any closer to it, time to say ta ta to rafa, and say hello to jose m.
ReplyDeleteLets get real, Benitez does not have the steel to win the Prem. Not when you are playing 2 defensive midfielders week in week out. Aquaman must be the most expensive bench warmer in the world plus he has zero man management skill. Riera won't be the last to critisize him, remember Alonso?
ReplyDeleteCompared that to how the special one motivates his squad against Chelsea. Don't forget he won't the CL with Porto on a shoe string.
Rafa is not a player manager. He's just a business manager..Jose can bring all players together as how he had showed when he was with Chelsea..he hugged..he tapped their back...his words to the press are always turned out to be a motivation to his players...but never with Rafa...we want that EPL title..not europa cup or just Champions League positions..I had enough with rafa..we will not go far or further with rafa..Fergie was right for saying that....
